Nashville, TN – October 31, 2024 — Renowned singer-songwriter David Wills was inducted into the prestigious Josie Music Awards Independent Country Music Hall of Fame this past Saturday, October 26, 2024. The induction ceremony, held at the iconic CMA Theater inside the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, honored Wills for his remarkable career spanning over five decades and his undeniable impact on the independent country music landscape has left a positive impact on the music industry itself. He has surpassed over 38 million in record sales worldwide.
With his soulful lyrics, powerful performances, and a deep-seated passion for country music, David Wills has solidified his place as one of the country genre's most influential voices. Known for hits such as "There's a Song on the Jukebox," and "Barrooms To Bedrooms," and having written for some of the industry's top artists, including George Strait and Garth Brooks, Wills’ contributions have not only earned him a loyal fan base but have also shaped the path of countless independent country musicians who followed in his footsteps.
Tina Marie Passantino, Co-founder and CEO of the Josie Music Awards, said of the Tennessee native, "David's baritone voice and amazing gift of putting words together perfectly to create a great country song is his trademarks." She then proceeded to honor Mr. Wills with, "Please, stand as we induct David Wills into the Independent Country Music Hall of Fame."
"Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. It's a great honor to be here tonight," Wills said during his acceptance speech. "We want to thank Tina Marie and Josie for doing all this."
"First of all, I thank the LORD Jesus Christ for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful industry of country music for the last fifty years. I have had a great time, and I have so many wonderful people to thank. I want to thank my precious wife Scarlett, my precious daughter Mackenzie, and her husband Rafe."
"Thanks to my manager, Wesley Fricks, his beautiful wife Sharman, their son Tyler, and Jeff Moss from down in Georgia."
"I have a dear friend here tonight, and his name is Bill Shore. Him and I have written hundreds of songs throughout the last forty-five years."
